Introductions
Cutting through a sea of facades and posturing, Anne O’Rourke’s music celebrates the beauty in the mundane. Engaging lyrics delivered by a radiant voice and warm guitar draw you in the same way blankets and hot chocolate call to you on cold, windy days. Anne writes songs through the events she experiences, in turn lending support to her audience listening along. “A lot of my songs have been written to help me process what’s going in my life; friendships, love, difficult choices.”
The songstress began her musical exploration early, learning strings before expanding into songwriting at 14. Her guitar teacher nurtured her talent, encouraging her to combine her love for singing, writing poetry, and playing guitar. Anne has written upwards of 80 songs since then, continuing to grow and develop her style and approach.
The content of the music often shapes the way in which writing is undertaken. Lyrics may come first when the material involves complicated emotions and challenges in life; other times, chord progressions take precedent and then lyrics and melody fall into place. Across the board, her songs all have a silver lining — a ray of sunlight that maintains hope even when addressing difficult topics.
