INTRODUCTIONS:
Chris Ruben can be spotted in the crowd before a show by his outrageously funky hats and wild ‘70s print shirts. How he can operate foot pedals in his swanky shoes is a mystery to most. His style comes through in all aspects of his life: His wardrobe, guitars, and music are all high-key rock and roll.
The Chris Ruben Band are the true rock stars of Long Island. Filled with love and groove, this rock based band with psychedelic funky overtones steals the hearts of everyone who sees them play. Chris founded the first of many groups in 2014, following five years of solo work. The band has seen many faces come and go, but the family you’ll find rocking out today consists of Chris Ruben (Guitar/Vocals/Songwriter), Brendan Allan (Bass/Vocals), Russ Benjamin (Drums/Percussion), Frank Lovine (Organ/Synths/Horns), and Eugene Lovine (Piano/Keyboard). With their unity, love for music, and friendship for one another, they are unbreakable and ready to rock the world.
TOURS & SHOWS
The Chris Ruben Band have made appearances across the country. Their adventures have taken them all the way to Memphis, Austin, and Birmingham, AL. Frequently popping up on stage in Brooklyn and NYC, The Chris Ruben Band make their rounds around New York as well. Their favorite show to play to date has been Froggy Daze 7. Froggy Daze is a music festival held in Narrowsburg, New York by Peace Pad Productions. CRB was not scheduled to play the festival but they brought their gear intending to jam with friends. Not only did they end up on stage but they rocked so hard they were invited back and are playing Froggy Daze 8 which will be held September 13th-16th 2018.
The Chris Ruben Band has a loyal fan following lovingly called the Gravy Babies. The GBs show up near and far to see their favorite band shake the stage.
Chris shared that the band will soon be releasing a new single and is hard at work on a new EP!
INSPIRATION & INFLUENCES
Their influences range from The Beatles to Nirvana, Morris Day and The Time to The White Stripes. If it involves heart and soul and ballsy guitar riffs, The Chris Ruben Band has probably picked it apart to find the sounds that work best for them. Their favorite song to play right now is Lights Off; it’s a high energy rock song that really gets the band going. It is scheduled to be released soon, but you can catch it live in the meantime!
When asked about guilty pleasures, Chris divulged his love for eating big dinners and “putting my face on my instrument”, which the writers here at LongIslandSound.love hope refers to his tendency to play guitar with his teeth.
