Introductions
Warm and bright, Chelsea Takami’s voice isn’t one you forget once you’ve heard it. Her sound finds a home in pop, but varied inspirations flavor her songs with R&B, oldies, and ‘90s nostalgia. Stir them together and what have we here? Timeless tunes with radio potential in any of the past three decades.
Chelsea Takami was way ahead of the live streaming phenomenon that’s aptly hitting the spotlight amidst international quarantine. Her livestream audience is regularly in the thousands, with fans reliably tuning in to hear her play a mix of originals and cover songs.
Ms. Takami has been playing music for most of her life, starting with the flute as a child and playing in every band she could from then on. She began singing and playing the guitar in high school, and it was at that point music took on a more active role in shaping her life.
While studying music in college, Chelsea began performing alongside rapper B. Martin. They did some impressive touring in Upstate New York, opening for some household names such as Mac Miller, Bobby Valentino, and Jeezy. Chelsea ultimately decided to pursue a solo career where she self-manages her business on top of songwriting and performing.
Tours & Shows
Chelsea has already taken her music to corners of the world far from our humble island; she’s played NAMM in LA, road tripped to Nashville, and even played internationally in Japan, the Dominican Republic, and Spain.
Chelsea released her EP Heart Wide Open in 2018. Five tracks packed with ear-worm melodies and infectious choruses all but guarantee your humming participation. With a wide range of styles and infectious enthusiasm for exploring new sounds, Chelsea is naturally drawn to collaborating with other artists. You can find her working on hip-pop tracks with local favorite Danny Dakota as well as featured on the title track of Aaron Glenn’s EP Powderkeg.
