INTRODUCTIONS

Indie pop-rock band Boxer is the latest music scene darling here on Long Island. Seemingly overnight they have showcased at several local open mics, booked shows with a handful of hometown heavy-hitters, and played some legendary venues. Boxer recently formed after bandmates Lenny Sadowsky (vocals/rhythm guitar/songwriter), Andrew Friedman (lead guitar), and Dave Wolfsohn (bass guitar) met by chance at the open mic at The Cup in Wantagh, NY. They later added Johnny Pots (drums) to the lineup, locking down the rhythm and rounding out their sound.

Their first single “Stay Up”, which you can find on nearly every streaming service, feels like a warm sunny car ride for your eardrums. With its hopeful and encouraging message to keep striving to be better, the song demonstrates the thoughtful nature that can be found throughout Boxer’s music. Many musicians struggle to balance recording, live shows, and networking, but Boxer is visibly up to the task. While their current streaming music catalog is limited, it’s clear that they are dedicated to only releasing singles once they have been polished and perfected. When discussing how “Stay Upis their favorite song at the moment, the band shared, “We worked really hard as a band to get to that point and I think were really proud as well. That was our first milestone, and now were ready to take down more milestones, and more after that.” We’re excited to see what else they have in store!

Boxer’s name and logo are considerate and loving nods to influences that have shaped them. Boxer is named for frontman Lenny’s beloved friend Gail Boxer, who was taken from her loved ones too soon. Gail’s passion for all forms of art was so impactful it just seemed natural to incorporate her as a cornerstone of the band’s inspiration. Their entwined “A” and spade logo represents Lenny’s grandparents, who have played a huge part in who he is and in his songwriting. He and several family members have this design tattooed on them, and the band took a liking to the art and message. Using the design was “a no brainer” the band shares.

TOURS & SHOWS

Boxer hasn’t hit the open road quite yet, but they’ve already made some big moves here at home. Playing venues such as Arlene’s Grocery, The Bowery Electric, Gold Sounds, and Jones Beach Boardwalk Bandshell, they’re off to a fantastic start! The band has shared the stage with local music scene celebs including Necter, Geotribe, Eithermore, The Big Happy, and The Chris Ruben Band. Boxer was featured with Fresh Brewed Sessions, a growing concert series hosted by Phil Firetog, at the end of January 2018.

Equilibrium Bookings hosted a release party for Boxer’s Principle & Heart EP February 9th, 2019 at The Velvet Lounge. The single was presented with great fanfare including a stellar review and Premiere Play from ThrowTheDiceandPlayNice.com.
